The chemical

This medication is an antibiotic used to treat bladder infections (acute cystitis)
Macrobid: 100 mg q12h
for 7 days, average urinary drug recoveries (0 to 24 hours) on day 1 and day 7 were 42
Plasma nitrofurantoin concentrations after a single oral dose of the 100 mg Macrobid capsule are low, with peak levels usually less than 1 mcg/mL
Surgical Prophylaxis - 100 mg twice daily on the day of the procedure and 3 days thereafter
Macrobid is a modified release, hard gelatin capsule containing the equivalent of 100mg of Nitrofurantoin in the form of nitrofurantoin macrocrystals and nitrofurantoin monohydrate
